Shawn is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional and the President and CEO of Dunnigan Financial Group. He specializes in comprehensive financial planning for individuals, families, and small business owners. Shawn has over 30 years of experience in the financial service industry, including Investment Management, Retirement Planning, Estate Planning, Financial Planning, Risk Management, Employee Benefits, and Income Tax planning. He has, in addition served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at Colorado State University.
After spending several years as a financial advisor with Wells Fargo Wealth Management, Shawn left the corporate world and created his own independent financial services practice that is known today as Dunnigan Financial Group.
Shawn earned a B.S in Finance from Moorhead State University, and an MBA with a concentration in Financial Institutions and Markets from the State University of New York Buffalo. He has also received the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional certification. He is a member of the National Financial Planning Association and the Colorado Financial Planning Association. In addition, He has been on the board of Directors of the American Red Cross, The American Cancer Society and has worked closely with Catholic Charities Northern. He is a member of both the Fort Collins Sertoma Club and the Knights of Columbus.
Shawn resides in Fort Collins, Colorado with his wife Lisa, to whom he has been married for over 30 years. Lisa is a registered nurse for the University of Colorado Health Systems. Shawn also has two sons, Jack and Nicholas.
Shawn spends his free time enjoying the spectacular adventure and scenery that Colorado has to offer. If he is not out hiking or trying his luck on a trout stream, you’ll be sure to find him enjoying the sunny Colorado days out on his boat or at a local Fort Collins brewery patio.

Jack Dunnigan is proud to serve as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional at Dunnigan Financial Group. His primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive advice to clients on various financial matters, specifically his focuses include portfolio construction, life insurance, tax planning strategies, and retirement income planning.
Jack earned his Masters of Business Administration with a Certificate in Applied Investments, a Bachelors of Science in Finance as well as a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in History from Colorado State University, where he excelled in both academics and student leadership, serving as the Treasurer of Colorado State University Ducks Unlimited Chapter.
What truly motivates Jack in his role as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ is the opportunity to help people overcome challenges and empower them to live the life they desire. He finds great satisfaction in finding creative solutions to complex problems, offering clients confidence as they navigate their financial journeys. Building relationships based on integrity and respect is of utmost importance to Jack, as it allows him to truly understand his clients’ goals and aspirations.
Currently, Jack resides in Fort Collins, Colorado, alongside his wife, Bria, and son Warren along with their black lab, Penny. Outside the office, Jack indulges in a variety of outdoor activities including golfing, fishing, hunting, kayaking, and most recently marathon running. Additionally, Jack is an avid musician who has been playing guitar for over 20 years and is always looking to improve his musical skills. Above all, Jack enjoys spending his free time with his friends and family and finding ways to give back to his local community and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Kathleen joins Dunnigan Financial Group serving as the Branch Operations Manager, running the day to day operations of the company as well as acting as a service assistant for our clients’ needs. Kathleen began with Dunnigan Financial Group in 2015 and stayed through 2022, when she retired. At the beginning of 2024, Kathleen decided to return to Dunnigan Financial Group on a part-time basis and we are privileged to have retained her as part of our family!
Kathleen’s previous experience covers a wide range of knowledge areas including acting as a Bank Branch Manager at Great Western Bank, membership manager for Zoo New England and an personal banker for Wells Fargo.
When not at the office, Kathleen spends her days on her ranch in Northern Colorado with her husband Brian running cattle and tending to their horses. Additionally, Kathleen has recently taken up competitive dog training and her dog Sadie is well underway to becoming a champion! Kathleen has a strong sense for fashion and spends a few weeks every year in Santa Fe gathering the latest and greatest that western-wear has to offer.

Levi joins the Dunnigan Financial Group team as an administrative assistant with previous experience as a Brokerage Operations Consultant. Levi takes great pride in handling the day-to-day tasks of assisting our clients and catering to the demands of the daily operations.
An Iowa native, Levi is an active barrel racer and enjoys spending her free time with her husband, horses, and dogs. If not working, Levi can be can be found at a barrel race just about anywhere or honing her skills on the archery range.
Penny is our very own office Morale Officer; she is a loving black lab that caters to our clients (and our own) need for non-human companionship. Penny is originally from Wellington, CO but now resides in Fort Collins with her human, Jack.
When Penny is not to busy playing fetch, she enjoys staring out of windows while daydreaming of playing fetch as well as greeting any guests that may come to see us at Dunnigan Financial Group
